I know you’re feeling it…
How are you navigating these times? Do you have systems to help you navigate the intensity? Do you trust your body to guide you through these shifts? Do you know how to make decisions as yourself – to help you navigate correctly when you experience resistance, frustration, anger, bitterness, or disappointment?
This weekend on June 15th, the planet Uranus “The Awakener” will form a challenging square with Mars, the God of War. If this sounds intense – that’s because it is. And by now, we all know that we are living in intense times.
From now through 2027, the energy is in an escalating process, leading us towards a global mutation of the Solar Plexus that has been foretold by both the systems of Human Design and the Gene Keys (which came out of Human Design).
These times of transformation are precisely why the system of Human Design was brought forward.
Human Design gives you the tools you need to navigate these unsettling & destabilizing times on our planet. Now, I love Astrology, it’s my first “esoteric language” AND I’ve come to love the synthesis of Astrology & Human Design together – because while Astrology can give us a more flavorful view of the energies and how they might express, Human Design gives us the practical tools to help us to actually navigate the energies (literally what to do/not do, and how to handle things) in an embodied, practical way.
With everything I’m about to say about the Astrological energies, I have one caveat:
Following your Strategy & Authority will always, always be more important than mentally understanding the Astrological energies.
If you’re a Generator or Manifesting Generator: your Strategy is to wait to respond. You can have a response to anything, but you have to wait for something to come towards you so that you can respond to it. The Sacral Response has vocal energies that accompany the response. An “ah-huh” is a yes means you have the energy to accomplish the task and that accomplishing that tast will bring you satisfaction. An “uhn-uh” is a no that warns that you either don’t have the energy to accomplish the task or that you do, but accomplishing the task will bring you frustration (in both cases this is a no). You also have either a Sacral Authority or an Emotional Authority that is the ultimate deciding factor in whether you say yes or no to whatever you are responding to. I cover the different Authorites here.*
If you’re a Projector: your Strategy is to wait for the Invitation. I did a deep dive on how this looks (for you and others) in this post here. Projectors have the widest variety of Authorities (Emotional, Splenic, Ego, Self-Projected, or Environmental) and you can read more about them here.*
If you are a Manifestor: your Strategy is to inform. Manifestors have a repelling aura (not in a bad way, but in a mechanical way), and in the past they were the Pharaohs, Rulers, and Conquerers, so there’s a leftover residue of fear or mistrust in this aura type by others. Conversely, for the Manifestor, because of this residue, they are either ignored by others, or afraid that they will be controlled so they often rebel. When a Manifestor informs those beings in their life of their plans before initiating them, the other beings feel a sense of relaxation, and the Manifestor can initiate with peace. Manifestors also have different types of Authorities: Emotional, Splenic, or Ego, and you can read more about them here.*
If you are a Reflector: your Strategy is to wait through a 28 day Lunar cycle, and this process is the same for your Authority, and I covered this process here.*

As a reminder, Astrology isn’t something to be feared. All transits/aspects bring with them opportunities as well as challenges. Just like checking the weather before you head out the door, it’s always helpful to know in advance how to prepare so you can work with the energies in a good way.
Most importantly – knowing about the Astrological Weather can help you not to take it personally when other people (or you for that matter) start unconsciously acting out the Astro Drama happening in the sky.
Hopefully what I share here will help you to recognize these energies in your life in and out in the world, so you understand that it’s a passing storm and you don’t think that it’s going to be raining for eternity.
Ok – so what’s the deal with Uranus and Mars squaring off with each other?
I’m going to be a little detailed here in case you’re just hearing about these types of energy for the first time because this square is really important so I want you to feel like you actually understand what’s going on.
This is also not the first time we’ve experienced this energy. I wrote about these energies in July 2024, August 2022 and January 2021. And if you want to go on a super Uranian deep dive, I also wrote articles about Jupiter conjunct Uranus and Saturn square Uranus. I kinda love that little weirdo Uranus.
On to the details: In 2017-2018 the planet Uranus moved into the sign of Taurus. Uranus is known for bringing sudden change through revolution, rebellion, innovation, futuristic thinking, inventions, intuition, creative insights, and radical shifts that have a humanitarian backing and come from a place of originality and authenticity and are always driven by an intense desire for liberation and freedom. ⚡️
Since 2018, Uranus has been revolutionizing all things Taurus = our values, money, finances, the stock market, world currencies, security (especially related to food crops and other Earthly resources), our relationship to the Earth, the Feminine, real estate, seismic shifts, volcanoes and other Earth changes, fertility, and the physical realm we experience through our senses.
⚡️ Anytime we are dealing with the energy of Uranus, the affirmation is “Expect the Unexpected.” ⚡️
Here I feel called to share an invocation for working with Uranus energy from one of my favorite Astrologers, Caroline W Casey. Please be advised that this is a very powerful invocation – do not read it out loud unless you are really ready for radical, revolutionary changes in your life…
“As the lightning and the wind, the shock and the flow, come to get me, may the golden spiritual lightning shatter my tower of isolation. I am willing to be fully myself, to be danced by life, and to dance appropriately with the energetic truth of the situation. I am willing and eager for others to be fully themselves. I abdicate all desire to suppress or control others, or to be suppressed or controlled by others. In fact, I am no longer willing to be in any relationship where I must suppress some essential part of my life in order to be there.” – from the audiobook, Visionary Activist Astrology.
Remember: Whatever sudden changes, hard left turns or shocking news might come your way… trust it. Lean into the undercurrent of liberation that is facilitating these changes.
Now that we have a good understanding of the energy of Uranus, Mars comes to the party to spice things up. 🔥🔥🔥
Mars is the warrior, the military general, the hero that brings us courage, passion, drive, motivation, activation, initiation, inspiration, and the energetic spark to take inspired action in our lives.
But in his unhealed/unintegrated expression, he is anger, rage, violence, aggression, intolerance, selfish, cruel, childish, competitive, insensitive, ruthless, reckless, abusive, greedy, and gives us this incessant sense of anxiety and urgency.
When you bring all of these energies together it can literally be EXPLOSIVE (in fact, the assassination attempt on Donald Trump is a classic example of Mars Uranus energy – and interestingly enough this same energy was part of the siege on the Whitehouse that happened on January 6, 2021, which happened right before the Mars Uranus conjunction that year, which I wrote about here).
With Mars and Uranus coming together in a Square (exactly 90° apart), there is a palpable tension in the sky. This is one of the most challenging hard aspects.
On the world stage, the planets & signs involved in a square often exhibit the more shadowy/unintegrated energies of the sign they are in. In this case, we have Mars (anger, frustration, military) in Leo (drama, pride, insecurity) squaring off with Uranus (rebellion, revolution, freedom) in Taurus (values, stubbornness, hoarding).
So it should come as no surprise that with this transit, DJT is having a military parade (Mars in Leo) at the same time there are hundreds of planned protests (Uranus in Taurus) for No Kings Day all across the country – the day before this transit is exact.
There’s something else you need to know – on the same day, we also have another square happening between Jupiter and Saturn…
Jupiter is the “Great Benefic” and Lord of the Gods, who also dispenses justice with his bolts of lightning. He is generally seen as a benevolent force in the cosmic stories. However, Jupiter, being the largest planet in our Solar System, also expands everything he touches… and in this case, he’s touching Saturn.
Saturn is “Father Time” and represents the patriarchy, boundaries, borders, rules, laws, and authority. Newly in Aries, Saturn is bringing up issues connected to border laws where we are seeing anger & aggression (Aries). With Jupiter squaring Saturn, we can see an increase in all of these issues. Sadly, Saturn is also authoritarianism, and with the square from Jupiter, we can also see an expansion in this area as well.
Saturn is a hard teacher, and his lessons regarding authority are that we will always suffer under the oppression of outside authority (whether this is through our boss, parents, family, the government, etc) until we are strong enough to take responsibility for being our own authority in our lives. That’s not to say that this is the only expression we can see. In our personal lives, we can work with the enrgies involved in both of these squares in constructive ways by honoring both of the energies of the planets involved, and weaving them together. In this way, the square can be transformed from a challenging block into a building block that can become one of the foundational stones in the new foundation we are building for ourselves during these revolutionary times.
The Planets are not here to harass you or make your life miserable. They are kind & benevolent teachers – even if their lessons can be difficult at times.
Mars Square Uranus wants to light the fire under your tail to break free from all of those people, situations, and circumstances where you feel like you cannot be your unique, authentic self.
Jupiter Square Saturn wants to expand your ability to take responsibility for standing up for your individuality and being the authority in your life.
So, what does all of this mean for you personally?
Now, there are a thousand different ways this energy might be expressed for each of us on a personal level. I’m going to share two examples and you can swirl them around with everything I’ve shared above, as well as the little light bulbs that have been going off in your mind and in your body as you’ve been reading (most important), and just hold these words lightly in your heart and stay present & mindful to see how they actually end up showing up in your life.
Here’s the more challenging version:
You haven’t been honest with yourself about where you’ve been suppressing your authenticity and the restlessness & frustration have been seething below the surface for a while and you’ve been trying to tell yourself that it’s ok. *Which is probably all happening because the decision(s) you made that got you into this situation were made with your mind instead of your Authority (see the Authorities here).
But then something happens. Maybe you have an accident. Maybe you blow up at someone and it ends up changing the relationship in an irrevocable way. Maybe your partner cheats on you. Maybe you get fired or decide to quit your job without a Plan B. Maybe you get notice on your apartment. Maybe you lose a substantial of money. I could go on… but you get the picture.
Now, what I want to say here is that if any of these things or similar happen – let go with love. Do not fight this change. Tap into that part of your being that is eternal and immortal, and remember that things like this have happened before and ultimately (maybe after a lot of time and therapy) they were actually a blessing.
Remember that with Uranus this is a wild card situation so we never really know how this energy can come through.
On the global stage…. Well, oftentimes due to the density of the collective ego at the moment, unfortunately, we might see more unhealed expressions of this energy. We are witnessing the Fall of the old Empire and it is a very important part of our collective process. Make sure you have good practices that help you stay centered and grounded in your heart even when things get extreme or overwhelming (especially around survival/security).
If you want to work with these energies in a more empowered way, I’d really recommend having a heart-to-heart with yourself TODAY – don’t wait.
BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF.
Where have you been (consciously or unconsciously) feeling oppressed, frustrated, angry, bitter, resentful, disappointed, or restricted – playing safe or playing small, hiding your light, or tolerating certain behaviors (from yourself or others), lying to yourself or others about what you REALLY want, or settling for second best because that’s all you thought was possible for you?
*If you’re a Generator/Manifesting Generator – have you been trying to Initiate like a Manifestor instead of waiting to Respond and listening to your Authority?
*If you’re a Projector or Reflector – have you been acting like a Generator or Manifesting Generator (acting like you have Sacral energy you just don’t have) or have you been trying to act like a Manifestor and trying to go out and Initiate to make things happen in your life – instead of sitting back and waiting for the Invitation & listening to your Authority?
*If you’re a Manifestor – have you been going out and doing things without Informing the people in your life, or are you trying to do all the things yourself with Sacral energy you just don’t have – instead of listening to your Authority and informing the beings in your life of your plans?
When the rug gets pulled out from under you, how long will it take for you to remember you have wings?
Remember:
Expect the unexpected.
Our triggers are our teachers.
You’re never upset about what you think you’re upset about.
Anger, frustration, bitterness, and disappointment show you where you long to be more free. (And this freedom comes from living as yourself and making decisions according to your Strategy & Authority).
When you know these energies are coming and you choose to work with them instead of against them it could look like this:
You check your chart to see where 28° Taurus and 28° Leo are, and what houses are being activated for you (aka what areas of your life where you may see this tension expressed. You do some deep introspection and have that heart-to-heart with yourself. You’re aware of where you’ve been holding yourself back and are now being called to courageously catalyze your life, so you call upon Mars to help you take inspired action to create those changes that will allow you to feel more authentic, self-sufficient, and liberated – especially in the house where Taurus falls in your chart. You also take a long hard look at your life to see where you haven’t been following your Strategy & Authority, and set the intention to begin living as yourself as much as possible moving forward.
