Welcome to our very first New Moon of 2026, the Year of the Magician. This Capricorn New Moon is filled with so much magic to support us for the whole year. This is not a new moon you want to sleep on! With every planet except Jupiter involved in this new moon (yes, even Pluto), and all in positive aspect to the moon, the entire sky is alive with the energy of this new beginning.
Now is the time to set your intentions, dream big, welcome transformation & sudden blessings, become responsible for being the Authority in your life, and take advantage of the mental clarity, passion & motivation to plan for a beautiful year ahead.

This Capricorn New Moon marks a fresh start & a reset related to your ambition, desires, and what you want to build in your life that will lead to long term success. The seeds that you plant now, when tended to with dedication & devotion, will continue to support you for years to come.
In modern times, ambition has gotten a bad rap (due to capitalism and privilege), but healthy ambition is what keeps us growing & reaching for the stars even on the darkest of nights.
This isn’t about endless self improvement or trying to live up to someone else’s idea of “success.” No, this New Moon is asking you to get serious about what is important to you, and courageously taking one aligned step at a time in the direction of your dreams.
ASPECTS TO THE Capricorn New MOON
The New Moon occurs at 28° Capricorn and will be engaged in the following aspects:
- Conjunct (aligned with) Mercury and Mars at 26° Capricorn, and Venus & Pluto at 1° and 3° Aquarius, respectively.
- Trine (supported) by Uranus at 26° Taurus
- Sextile (supported) by Saturn & Neptune at 27° and 29° Pisces, respectively.
With every planet in the sky (except Jupiter) involved in this New Moon (and all in positive aspects), the gods are on our side as we set our new moon intentions for the year ahead.
Mars & Mercury in Capricorn lend us mental clarity, passion, drive, & motivation, so we can clearly communicate our intentions for long term succes to ourselves and others. Affirmations made and spoken during this New Moon are infused with extra potency!
Venus & Pluto in Aquarius help transform our values and take back our power in our relationships & finances. Radical changes that help us to be our authentic selves and break free from old limiting beliefs will also support the manifestation of the intentions we set during this New Moon.
Uranus asks us to be open to sudden blessings and synchronicities with this new moon, especially in the area of life/house in your chart where you find the later degrees of Taurus.
Saturn (the ruler of Capricorn), sitting next to Neptune, wants us to take responsibility for being The Authority in our lives (living according to our own unique Inner Authority in Human Design – Sacral, Emotional, Splenic, etc.). Devotion to our dreams and the ideal vision for ourselves & humanity through small steps each day will be rewarded over time.
Just in the same way you couldn’t just walk out your front door tomorrow and climb a mountain, this new moon is asking you to make a plan for the energy that is coming. If you want to climb a mountain, you need to start training now, researching which mountain to climb, looking at plane tickets, gathering your gear, breaking in your hiking boots, practicing setting up your tent in all kinds of weather, etc.
With the way things have been going these past years, many of us may have become disillusioned or even jaded with the idea of setting intentions for the year ahead (I had so many plans for 2020!) and we may have given up on setting goals – which I know for myself, has caused me to feel a bit adrift & ungrounded these past few years.
2026 is a 1 year, which is the energy of the Magician in the Tarot.

The 60th Gate is located in the Root Center and carries an intense pressure to mutate/be/do something totally different. But in the lower fear-based frequencies, our pessimistic views and closed system thinking limit what is possible for us, and we feel restless, limited, and oppressed. But remember, mutation/insight is like a lightning strike; we never know when or where it is going to happen.
Only through accepting our limitations, working with what we have now – all the while expecting miracles, and most importantly – having a plan for what we will do once our miracles arrive, do we make space for the cracking of the vessel.
In literary terms, magical realism is a genre that presents a realistic view of the world, while also incorporating magical elements (a “normal” world where talking animals are also normal). This is the gift of the 60th gift. It invites us to let go of expecting life to simply repeat the patterns of the past, and to build systems & structures that can hold the miracles that come when magic becomes common sense.
What would your life be like if you treated miracles as if they were normal, planning for them, building structures for them, and welcoming them with a relaxed, matter-of-fact “yes, of course that happened” belief in your own personal power & ability?
