Have you ever built an altar?  It’s kind of a trendy thing to do these days  – as I out all of the other new age goddesses out there…  Your friend casually mentions her altar sometimes, there’s one in your yoga studio, and everyone on Instagram seems to have one.

What’s all the fuss about? Is it just some hippy new age stuff?  Is it idol worship? It’s not as simple as all that.

In my world, making an altar is a physical way to hold space for yourself and for your dreams.  Every item you place upon your altar should have meaning for you, helping you to anchor your dreams & visions into this physical reality.

And me?  Well, I’ve had some form of an altar since I was 16 back in Kentucky – totally outing myself as an aforementioned new age goddess 😉

Every new moon I like to use the fertile energy of the dark of the moon to plant seeds of manifestation that will germinate & grow with the pull of the moon as she moves toward her fullest expression two weeks later on the full moon.  This is aligning with the principles of biodynamic gardening.

I start by cleaning & clearing the space.

Clearing the altar space

I take everything off of the altar and dust really well.  I even use a lint roller on this white cloth I have for the foundation.

Next I read some of the astrological insights from Mystic Mamma or The Power Path.  I journal a little about what I want to let go of and what dreams I want to manifest into my life right now.  (You can check out the pictorial journey of this process I shared on Instagram recently).  I get really clear about what I want to bring into my life and then look around my house for things that symbolize this to me.

In my altar work I incorporate aspects of the Feng Shui bagua – assigning different meanings to different corners of my alter.

The Relationships corner doesn’t just speak of romantic relationships, it also addresses friendships & business relationships.  In the last few months, I’ve been blown away by the incredible support I have been receiving from my sisters, so I decided to continue to focus on calling in that nurturing energy.

In the Fortunate Blessings section I decided to focus on sisterhood again, and how abundant and blessed that makes me feel.  The element of this area is wood, which is nourished by water, so I added a beautiful green Glassybaby glass with water – and of course glitter – to symbolize my intention to nourish my finances.

Finally for the finished product, I added in my My Little Pony spirit guides.  Really, we have to take all of this ritual & ceremony lightly sometimes as well.  Recently I saw a post from Danielle Laporte where she incorporated a Care Bear on her altar, and so I thought we’d have a little fun with magical spirit guides as well! 😉

If you want to check out a much more in depth story on how all of this came together, check out my Instagram feed.  I’d love to share my journey & learn more about you through your pictures!

By the end of creating my new moon altar, each of the items carefully placed on the altar was charged with very strong intentions for manifesting my dreams.  Now every time I see it, I associate the objects there with how I want to align my energy. This is a powerful tool for really manifesting, and anchoring your dreams into the physical reality.  And it’s FUN!!

Would you like to learn more about how to build an altar of your very own?  The new moon in December will be in Capricorn, and is lining up on the same day as the Winter Solstice = very very powerful time for practical manifestation.  I’ll be teaching an online workshop on how to build an alter for yourself to harness these magical energies & really anchor your dreams into your physical reality.

More information about this interactive online workshop will be coming out soon, but for now, save the date of 12/13/14 from 1PM-3PM PST.   I will be on location at a friend’s house with two magical women guests & I’ll show them how to build an altar for new moon manifestation, and take your questions!

It will kind of be like an interactive, magical reality TV show on how to create sacred space for manifesting your dreams!
