Happy New Moon & New Year of the Yin Wood Snake! 🐍💜
In a few hours from now, we enter a new frequency with the Lunar New Year and this beautiful, revolutionary Aquarius New Moon. For the past 3 years, we’ve had our dear sister Vicki Iskandar sharing with us for the Lunar New Year, and I highly recommend her as a resource for learning more about the Year of the Yin Wood Snake and what it might mean for you. She also has amazing bite-sized information on her Instagram.
From Vicki’s website:
“Here are a few keywords for the year of the Wood Snake: highly creative, collaborative, transformative, fast-paced / dynamic, and exciting, but also unpredictable and explosive. Artists, writers, and creators will especially find the Wood Snake year to be highly inspiring. We may travel near and far for art, fashion, entertainment, and culture as we seek to express, heal, and enrich the heart and mind.
Yin Wood is artistic, imaginative, curious, and open-minded, with an eye for beauty. Like flowers clambering up the branches of a tree, Yin Wood invites us to see the world from a higher perspective and open the eyes to the beauty that surrounds us. This is a year to get inspired, learn, create, and share your light. We’re interested in exploring the unfamiliar and seeing the bigger picture.”
I personally love the emphasis on creativity & open-mindedness in combination with the unique & innovative energy of Aquarius…

Ruled by the planet Uranus, Aquarius in its quintessence is all about AUTHENTICITY, freedom & change. Its symbol is waves of electrical energy, and is associated with the archetypes of the revolutionary, inventor, mad scientist, humanitarian, genius, and the rebel. Its energy is futuristic, and to me is connected with the frequency of Atlantis.
In its healed expression Aquarius is unique, authentic, radical, community oriented, global thinking, philanthropic, revolutionary, innovative, tolerant, and liberating.
In its unhealed expression it can be fragmented, a rebel without a cause, alienating (of self and/or others), aloof, unrelatable, manic, overly intellectual, impractical, or overly zealous.
Check your Birth Chart for 9° Aquarius for where you might be experiencing a reset related to these energies, and expect the unexpected.
If you get radically honest with yourself, where are you feeling constricted, limited, and longing to break free?
The New Moon occurs on January 19th at 2:35am HST (4:35am PST) at 9° Aquarius.
New Moons always represent a time of new beginnings, fresh starts, and a reset in a particular area of our lives.
This New Moon is especially unique in that it not only marks a new beginning related to the Aquarius part of your chart/life, but with Pluto having recently transitioned into Aquarius for good, there’s some part deep within all of us that is yearning to break free.
Where are you longing to find the freedom to romance your life (as an act of rebellion in the face of all the destruction & corruption in the world) and cultivate your artistic, imaginative, curious, and open-minded side?
ASPECTS TO THE AQURIUS NEW MOON
The New Moon occurs at 9° Aquairus and will be engaged in the following aspects:
__________
- Trine (positively supported by) Jupiter at 11° Gemini:
- The largest planet in our solar system, Jupiter is known as The Great Benefic, and expands everything he touches. This is the most positive, supportive aspect, from the most optimistic, joyful planet. OPEN to receive! Pay attention to surprising communications or information from unexpected places. There may be guidance or support coming in to help bring expansion & prosperity to your new moon intentions. ✨
This Gate/Gene Key is deeply personal to me and I shared all about the meaning of the New Moon activating this Gate/Gene Key in the Audios for our Astrology Membership.
In our Astrology Membership, for each Full Moon and New Moon, I share 3 audio transmissions that are usually around 20-50 minutes each:
____
- An overview of the Full/New Moon in the particular sign.
- Diving into the details of the various Planetary Aspects (other planets) that are also involved in the conversation.
- Exploring the correspondences of the Full/New Moon to the Human Design Gates and Gene Keys.
NEW MOON JOURNAL PROMPTS
_________
- Where have you been feeling the desire for change stirring deep within your being?
- How could these changes revolutionize certain areas of your life (check your chart for 9° Aquarius) and ultimately support you in feeling more liberated and free?
- On a scale of 1-10 (10 at the highest), how well do the people in your community know the real you?
- Where are you longing to find the freedom to romance your life (as an act of rebellion in the face of all the destruction & corruption in the world) and cultivate your artistic, imaginative, curious, and open-minded side?
- As you tune into these deeper parts of yourself that are longing to be liberated, where are you also feeling a bigger sense of expansion in your life? (check your chart for 11° Gemini for clues).
- In this time of the Lunar New Year of the Wood Snake, where in your life would you love to create a greater sense of expansion & liberation over the next year, and even into the next 10 years?
May this New Moon support you in liberating your most authentic, weird, unique, magical self, with an expansive new beginning for the part of you that feels like the deepest, truest, most radical (and slightly vulnerable) aspect of yourself – in service to the liberation of all beings.
