2025 was the Year of the Hermit, and 2026 brings us into the Year of the Magician/Magus.

2025: Year of the Hermit

Themes: Retreat from life, contemplating what is essential (and what is not), seclusion, seriousness, getting to the bottom of things, standing up for oneself, defining one’s position, and being true to yourself, especially during encounters with others.

In the energy of the Hermit, we recognize that we must withdraw from the world and reconsider our position. It is a time when our ego adjusts to the more mature requirements of life.

We are tasked with getting clear about who & what is in our life and how those things align with our goals or not. (Resonates with the shedding theme of the year of the Snake). The last time we had a Hermit year was 2016.

The Transition – Completing the Hermit cycle in a good way

As we come to the close of 2025, we can feel excited about the coming shift, but do make sure you take the time to complete this cycle cleanly & correctly. In our modern times, we can be so quick to rush to the next thing, especially when that thing has been challenging, but if we don’t complete the cycle in a good way, we can still bring the unfinished energies with us into the next cycle.

  • What were some of the more challenging moments of 2025?
  • What did you realize from these experiences about your values, and what is or is not important to you?
  • Are there any clearing conversations or actions that need to be had/taken so that these realizations are fully integrated & implemented into your life?
  • What do you need to release/transition away from/complete before the end of the year to ground & anchor the lessons of 2025?
  • What did you have to take more responsibility for this year?
  • How did you have to change/shift to meet these more mature requirements of life?
  • Have you developed any new habits as a result of this that you want to write down so you can intentionally bring them into 2026?
  • How is your relationship to your Inner Authority (Emotional, Sacral, Splenic, etc)?
  • Are there any relationships/areas of your life where you need to educate others on how you best operate/make decisions so you can really embody your uniqueness in 2026?

2026: Year of the Magician/Magus

Themes: Assertiveness, self-realization, activity, willpower, concentration, vital force, mastery, assertion, skillfulness, being successful, passing tests, working intentionally with the elements, adaptability, cleverness, trickiness.

The Magician/Magus means activity, self-realization, striving for power, and he shows an extraordinary vitality. The absolute will to form & change things is expressed in him. The Magician knows what he wants and takes the first decisive step. The last time we had a Magician year was 2017.

The force of intention allows the Magician/Magus to achive his goals. The shadow is the idea that positive thinking alone, without action will bring results, or trying to force something by all means.

The Magician achieves what he wants because he knows how to focus his energy. Clear desires bring so much success because we act instead of reacting, and do not just stumble from one experience into the other. It is a time in which we press forward out of curiosity or clear intent into the unknown. This could mean new areas of interest as well as new spheres of life. In all cases, the experiences of 2026 lead to an expansion of our consciousness and an intensification of our feeling for life.

In the Professional sphere, this card indicates that we take the initiative, become conscious of our influential powers, and use them deliberately. This allows us to pass tests, master challenges, and influence the course of events in an effective manner. In this energy, we can be economically successful, achieve promotions, or successfully conclude professional projects. Successful action means to allow our Inner Authority to move us through life, bringing strength to regions of our consciousness.

In personal relationships, this card refers to a phase of strong fascination and intense attraction. At the same time, it is not desperate wanting that leads to the goal, but rather the relaxed, almost matter-of-fact belief in one’s own power and ability, which can only be brought forth when we allow our Inner Authority/body to move us through life instead of the mind. The Magician/Magus accepts himself as he is and draws to himself the love of the people around him through his honesty and openness.

NOTE: Do take care with some of the language used in connection to the Magician, such as “will” or willpower, especially if you are like 70% of the population and have an Undefined Will/Ego/Heart center.  The Ego Center is the small white triangle in the middle-right of the Body Graph (your Human Design chart).  If this center is white in your chart, then you do not have consistent willpower and anything you do to try to prove yourself will usually end up with you feeling frustrated, bitter/resentful, angry, or disappointed. Does this mean that you can’t resource the energy of the Magician – no!  You just have a different way of doing it. Depending on what your unique Inner Authority is (and the other defined centers in your chart), you can harness your energy & intent to achieve your goals in ways that are correct for you.

Additionally, there’s a significant amount of language associated with the Magician around initiating, which, from a Human Design perspective, is correct for Manifestors. However, for the rest of us, trying to go out and “make” something happen can often lead to frustration, bitterness/resentment, or disappointment. But this does not mean you have to sit on your hands and do nothing!  As long as you are following your Strategy (Wait to Respond – Generators/MGs, Wait for the Invitation – Projectors, and Wait a Lunar Cycle for Reflectors) and when your Inner Authority moves you to take action – you do – this is taking the first step of the Magician.  The opposite would be feeling your Inner Authority/body moving you to do something/take action in a Magician type of way, but then your mind gets you all in a tizzy, and you do nothing. That is not the vibe for 2026.

When we look at the card of the Magician, we see the symbols of the 4 Elements: Fire, Water, Air, and Earth.  These are also connected to all the Astrological Signs & Planets, all of the Energy Centers in the Human Design Body Graph, all of the Tarot Cards, and the 4 Worlds of the Kabbalistic / Qabalistic Tree of Life.

These are the exact 4 systems we will be diving deep into in Prismatic Perspective!  Perfectly aligned with the Year of the Magician.

If you’ve been feeling called to join us, this is your moment!  Our journey begins December 11th!

Prismatic Perspective is a 12-14 month immersive journey weaving together Qabalah, Astrology, Human Design, and Tarot, exploring how they weave together to inform & enhance one another for magical, practical work.

Also includes a deep dive into ritual work, altar tending, interpreting symbols, mythological studies, and navigating this human dream with as much awareness as possible.

“We don’t do magic, we become magicians, and all acts become Magical Acts.”
